Have you been wondering what events to attend to celebrate Earth Month? Well, wonder no more! CET’s Outreach Team will be attending these great events below. We will be discussing many of our programs including: how to go green with a no-cost home energy assessment, how to start investing in local, renewable energy, tips on starting you own composting system, and great Electric Vehicle rebate programs, just to name a few. Every sustainable action counts! Happy Earth Month!
Saturday, April 14th 10:00am -4:00pm
Join us for a day of family fun, education and entertainment. The Amherst Sustainability Festival is in its ninth year and is bigger and better than ever! There is something for everyone with over 100 vendors of renewable energy, energy efficiency product suppliers, and advocacy groups, as well as sustainable crafts and artisans. Stay tuned for more information! Visit the CET table to learn about some fun, easy and practical ways that you can save energy and reduce waste! The event will be located in Amherst Town Commons.
Tuesday & Wednesday April 17th-18th 11:00am-3:00pm
Join us for a week-long celebration of hands-on science and ecological fun. Free with museum admission! CET Community Outreach will be joining the Springfield Museums Science Superstars and Planet Protectors program for Earth Week! We will have a display of how to compost, including indoor composting with red wiggler worms, and an ongoing tutorial demonstration on how to create simple home composting systems with free or very inexpensive materials.

Join us at the Hancock Shaker Village for a tour highlighting innovative practices of the Shakers. Discover how this forward-thinking community met its needs sustainably and serves as an example today. Tours are included in admission and will leave on the hour from 11am-2pm.

Join CET and the Berkshire Environmental Action Team for a fun and educational day where people from all walks of life can gather to learn about sustainable businesses and organizations based in the Berkshires. We’ll have plenty of info about our programs and services on offer, including Mass Save, New England Wind and Green Start, a Drive Green electric vehicle display, and Green Team for teachers, to name a few! Not to mention a free Green Raffle basket! The event will be held at The Stationary Factory @ 63 Flansburg Avenue – Dalton
Wednesday, April 25th 10:00am- 2:00pm
The Center for EcoTechnology is pleased to participate in UMass Medical School’s annual Earth Day celebration. During this event, local organizations and campus departments offer a full spectrum of products, services and information to help the community grow a little greener! With a theme of reuse, the Earth Day 2018 Celebration will feature a mix of campus favorites, including local food and craft vendors as well as energy efficient products and services. The event will be held at UMass Medical School @ 5 North Lake Ave – Worcester
Wednesday, April 25th 9:00am- 1:00pm
The STCC Sustainathon is an educational, campus-wide event that brings together professionals, scientists, the community, and high schools to interact with STCC students and faculty on STEM Sustainability topics. The focus this year is Environmental Sustainability. The event aims to promote education in sustainability and to explore sustainable practices by decision makers and students in their own institutions, schools, homes and community. The event will be held at Springfield Technical Community College @ 1 Armory Street – Springfield
Berkshire Communities Green Network April Meeting
Thursday, April 26th 6:00-8:00 pm
Join us to discuss Energy Efficiency and the MassSave program with the Berkshire Communities Green Network. There will be a panel representing utilities who will talk about their programs with a Question and Answer period afterwards. Location TBD.
Saturday, April 28th 12:00pm -4:00pm
Join the Friends of Northampton Trails and Greenways for a trail procession from Veteran’s Field, Northampton to Millside Park, Easthampton with performances & activities at both locations. The parade is open to hikers, runners, cyclists, wheelchairs, rollerskaters, skateboarders, and trail users of any kind and all abilities. CET will be joining the fun at Millside Park from 2:30-4, along with dance performers, juggling, yoga and other outdoor activities.
